What do you think of this idea for a play I'm writing?

-It's about an outcast girl and her best friend. She's fifteen, he's 16. She's know him since forever. Homecoming is coming up soon.She's hoping that the most popular guy in school who is a junior will ask her to go with him. She completely changes her image and the junior asks her to homecoming. She says no because he only likes her for the girl she's become and she almost lost her best friend in the process. After a lot of drama she realizes that she loves her best friend and they go to homecoming together. There's a lot more to the story but this is just the idea of it. What do you think?I was thinking "Pretty In Pink" too, lol.
