Very Descriptive Paragraph of Artemis Greek Goddess?

-Luna,

It really depends on what angle you want to write about her. Artemis was the Goddess of Light 鈥?Protector of the Vulnerable 鈥?Goddess of the New Moon or Crescent Moon 鈥?Healer 鈥?Courage 鈥?and, the patron saint of childbirth. She was also known as Phoebe (Greek for 鈥榥ew light鈥? or Diana (her Roman name) 鈥?daughter of Zeus.

In Greek Mythology, just after her birth, she aided her mother Leto in the birth of her twin Apollo. This described the 鈥榩rotector of the vulnerable鈥?and nurturer/protector. Artemis was extremely decisive even when she was young. On her third birthday, Zeus had asked what she wanted and her response was immediate and clear: to live without being distracted by love or marriage 鈥?a hunting outfit and to be able to dress like a normal lady 鈥?to have a bow and arrow like her brother 鈥?to be the goddess that would bring light into the world 鈥?6 young nymphs as companions, who would help care for her hunting dogs 鈥?finally, all the mountains on earth to live on. She thrived on challenges. She interfered with the sailing of a ship to the battle of Troy, because a group of Greek sailors had killed a rabbit and her young; although, her skill as a hunter would allow her to kill the fiercest beasts. She never attended to cultivating the land or helping mankind by taming the forces of nature, so she was considered by many as the first environmentalist. Freedom and personal space meant everything to her and she guarded it zealously, as in the case of Actaeon, a hunter that stumbled upon her while she bathed. She turned him into a stag, so her hunting dogs could rip him to shreds. Artemis was also vengeful, as in the case of Zeus impregnating one of her nymphs. The nymph was turned into a bear to be hunted by Artemis鈥檚 dogs, but Zeus intervened and placed her in the Callisto star constellation. Apollo tricked her into killing her one great love, Orion, due to jealously over the loss of time that Apollo could spend with her. Stricken with grief over the loss of her human love, Orion, Artemis shot him into the heavens to make the Orion constellation and never allowed herself to get close to anyone again.

I hope this helps you out. Seriously though, if you haven鈥檛 spent the time to read about her, you really should because she, as well as all the others, is so fascinating. They beat a lot of the modern day movie or game heroines.
